Dr John Teh
Cannabis is Medicine.
Dr John Teh is a Cannabinoid Clinician and Clinical educator, highly regarded in the medicinal cannabis community, both nationally and internationally. Dr Teh has been consulting patients regarding their medicinal Cannabis requirements since legalization in Australia in 2016. Dr Teh regularly educates Doctors, Nurses, Health Professionals about how to use medicinal Cannabis effectively. His aim is to promote cannabis as a medicine to both heal and maintain optimal health. Andrew Kavasilis (Founder - Medical Cannabis Limited)

Founder of and technical director of Medicinal Cannabis Limited (MCL) and its subsidiary VitaCann, Andrew Kavasilas has a history in the hemp industry that goes back two decades. He has been growing industrial hemp under state permits since 1999. In 2001, he was involved in cultivating one of the first authorised Australian medicinal cannabis crop. Kavasilas is also the secretary of the Australian Hemp party, has been campaigning for cannabis law reform for years, was an instrumental player in the legalisation of hemp seed food, and is a long-term critic of the NSW roadside drug testing regime.

With FSANZ being in the process of approving leaves, roots and sprouts for human consumptions, it’s up to us, the consumers and voters, especially with a new government in place, to ensure it. Australia must start catching up to the rest of the World. Arthur Wajs is the co-founder of Hemp Pet and Hemp Fields, Australian companies already very actively participating in local and global markets.

James Vosper (President: Australian Industrial Hemp Alliance)
Industrial Hemp & Carbon Sequestration
It was James' passion for the environment that led to his first involvement in industrial hemp in 2009. His interest in all aspects of industrial hemp soon expanded and he has addressed many forums on the benefits of hemp for the economy, the environment, as food and as medicine.
James is the President of the Industrial Hemp Association of NSW, an organisation whose members have been prime movers in the legalisation of hemp as food. He is President of the Australian Industrial Hemp Alliance (AIHA) a national organisation representing members from all Australian states. He is also the Chair of the AIHA sub-committee on medicinal cannabis.

He will report on the campaign that led to the election of two Legalise Cannabis Party candidates to the West Australian parliament, the establishment of the NSW Legalise Cannabis Party and what you can do to help the cause.

Together we will explore the theory of the entourage effect- how terpenes are believed to augment the effects of cannabinoids via their interaction with the human endocannabinoid system. We will examine the pivotal role they play in the different therapeutic and pleasurable effects of individual cannabis strains, and how they are disrupting the outdated sativa/indica binary paradigm of cannabis classification. Nerdy but fun!

Dr Katrina Green, PhD (Senior Lecturer & Medical Scientist, University of Wollongong)
Benefits of Cannabis Phytochemicals on Brain Health: Discovering New Medicines in Hemp
Dr Katrina Green is a neuroscientist and a medical sciences lecturer at the University of Wollongong (Molecular Horizons and School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences, Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health). She is also a scientific affiliate of The Australian Centre for Cannabinoid Clinical and Research Excellence (ACRE), an Australian Federal Government funded cannabinoid research centre that conducts collaborative research across the broad fields of plant sciences, pre-clinical and clinical research, and health policy and practice. Dr Green has 16 years of cannabinoid medical research experience and leads a vibrant scientific team who are developing new therapeutic approaches to treating illnesses of the brain. She has a keen interest in the benefits of cannabidiol (CBD) and other compounds found in hemp plants, eg terpenes and flavonoids, as well as their interactions (the ‘entourage effect’). Her talk will highlight the potential of hemp plants to enable the discovery of new medicines in this area.

‘Zero-Tolerance’ Drug Driving Laws - What It Means For You
With the legalization of medicinal cannabis in Australia in 2016, our parliament was faced with the challenge of constructing a regulatory driving frameworks to deal with this. In 2022, patients treated with medicinal cannabis in Australia are still faced with criminal sanctions if cannabis (medicinal or recreational) is present in their blood or oral fluid while driving. This is irrespective of whether they are impaired by the cannabis or not. Criminal Defence Lawyer and CEO of MiDispensary, Eidan Havas, speaks on the current regulatory framework in NSW and other states, also touching on possible legislative changes we anticipate over the next several years.

The Australian Hemp Council – Why Are We Importing Hemp?
Why does legislation mean we are often importing hemp? And exporting. Tim Schmidt is the president of The Australian Hemp Council (AHC - a national 7 member council featuring representatives from each state hemp organisations and the Northern Territory) and the Tasmanian Hemp Association. With a national membership of 200 members, The AHC represent hemp growers and processors Australia wide. Tim will provide an update on national AHC developments in the hemp industry as a grower organisation. One of AHC’s primary objectives is to bring about legislative change to allow the unhindered cultivation of industrial hemp in Australia and open the industry up for Australian Farmers.
